The Lagana Motorsports Top Fuel dragster will feature a new pink paint scheme in support of Breast Cancer Awareness at this weekend’s Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals. “Oh man, the NTB/Service Central car looks awesome, and we can’t wait for everyone to see it,” said Dom Lagana, driver of the 8000-plus horsepower entry. “We’re always excited to get out there and race, but this weekend is going to really mean a lot to us. We all believe in this cause. Our mom, Marie Theresa Lagana, passed away December 14, 2000 from Leukemia, and for Paul Richards and his brother Dave, this is a [ Read More ]
This was our quickest race ever. Only once did we run in the 3.90s…all the rest were in the 3.80s! The low spot was a rare failure where a broken connecting rod went up through the valley of the engine. We don’t think we can fix this block, hence this run cost 32k. Our team can be proud of running as quick as we did and having our career quickest at a 3.862.
This was our toughest race because the field was so quick. The quickest in history and we were pleased to make the field with our quickest passes of the year a 92 and 88. Although we lost in the first round we were racing the second fastest car in the class and really needed the Fram team to make a mistake. We are proud of our accomplishments considering the limited budget. It has been said that we do the most with the least and this weekend is proof of that. See you in Reading!
This race was a disappointment as we failed to qualify for the first time this year at a NHRA event. The third round of qualifying we had a good run going that may have gotten us into the show but a dropped cylinder early in the run eventually led to the hurting the engine and oiling the track. We lost the run due to the oil down and didn’t make the show. We will be ready for the next race.
This was a challenging race! Dom got extra TV times as we weren’t sure we were going to get in the show! We did and have kept our qualifying going well this year. Our first round opponent was the eventual race winner Del Worsham. We were pleased to be the only pair to make full passes in the opening round. We will get them in Denver!
It was good to get back to Jersey and see friends from our hometown area. Bobby Lagana Sr. was surprised at some of the memorabilia fans gave him from a long time ago. We ran our fastest pass of the year at a 3.92 and more importantly that pass qualified us for the race in the 14th position. We did not oil the track but have challenges in the rear end housing and billet blower areas. It was disappointing to loose in the first round yet our resolve is stronger than ever. Our next NHRA race is at the Route [ Read More ]
